ETOA Submits Project Concept Note on Enhanced Safety and Preparedness Training for Ethiopia’s Tourism Workforce
The Ethiopian Tour Operators Association (ETOA) is pleased to announce the submission of a project concept note titled “Enhanced Safety and Preparedness Training for Ethiopia’s Tourism Workforce in Response to the Melaburge Disease Outbreak and Future Health Threats.”
The concept note has been formally submitted to the Federal Ministry of Tourism, reflecting ETOA’s strong commitment to enhancing the resilience, safety, and operational readiness of Ethiopia’s tourism industry.
The proposed initiative seeks to provide tour operators, guides, drivers, and tourism professionals with comprehensive training in safety protocols, disease prevention, and emergency preparedness. This capacity-building effort is designed to support the sector in effectively responding to the current Melaburge disease outbreak as well as future public health threats.
ETOA encourages all members to remain attentive to upcoming updates and to be prepared to take part in the training programs once they are approved and launched in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health. Active member participation will be vital in safeguarding both the tourism workforce and the visitors we serve.
