The Ethiopian Tour Operators Association (ETOA) is actively participating in OTW 2026 Ethiopia, a gathering of tourism leaders, industry associations, and travel professionals from Ethiopia and across Africa.
Speaking in one of the sessions, ETOA President Fitsum Gezahegn said Africa must see tourism as a credible regional service. He called on African countries to introduce regional visas and simplify travel processes, following the example of the East African Community. He added that countries such as Ethiopia should also join such initiatives so that travelers can move more easily between destinations and the continent can compete as a single, connected tourism region.
"Tourism will only reach its full potential in Africa when we treat it as a regional service, not a collection of separate, disconnected markets," Fitsum noted, underscoring the need for stronger cooperation between governments and the private sector.
Alongside the policy discussions, ETOA is using its presence at the event to promote its member tour operators and their products and services. Through meetings with international buyers, partners, and fellow associations, the Association is presenting Ethiopia's diverse tourism offering, from historical and cultural heritage to natural landscapes, adventure, and community-based experiences. It is also working to open new partnership and market-linkage opportunities for its members.
ETOA's participation reflects its continuing commitment to representing and strengthening the country's tour operators, advocating for a more enabling policy environment, and positioning Ethiopia as a leading destination in Africa and beyond.
ETOA thanks the organizers and all partners for the opportunity to take part in OTW 2026 Ethiopia and looks forward to building on the connections made at the event.
