As part of the destinations being developed under the Prime Minister's "Gebeta LeHager" (A Table for the Nation) and "Gebeta LeTiwlid" (A Table for Generations) initiative, the Arba Minch Conference Resort continues to undergo extensive promotional and marketing efforts, positioning it as one of Ethiopia's premier tourist destinations.

On Nehase 29, 2018 E.C. (September 4, 2026), the Ethiopian Tour Operators Association (ETOA) Board held an extensive discussion with South Ethiopia Regional stakeholders on advancing tourism promotion in the region.

The discussion centered on South Ethiopia Region — widely regarded as "Little Ethiopia" for the breadth of its cultural, natural, and historical attractions, and for standing as a living symbol of peace, tolerance, and prosperity. Participants agreed to strengthen joint efforts to promote the region, including the Arba Minch Conference Resort, so that the local population can meaningfully benefit from the growth of the tourism economy.

A central theme of the discussion was the role of peace as the foundation of all development and the backbone of the tourism sector. Participants agreed that any individual found responsible for criminal activity would be held accountable under the law, and that sustaining the region's current state of peace requires the coordinated effort of the local community, cultural and religious leaders, security structures, the regional government, and all other relevant stakeholders — each fulfilling their respective responsibilities.

The meeting also addressed several practical challenges affecting tourist flow to the region, including recurring fuel shortages and unwarranted price increases. Stakeholders agreed to enforce strict revenue collection through legal receipts and to work progressively toward resolving issues associated with unlicensed local guides operating in the area.

Overall, the discussion reflected a shared commitment to strengthening coordination between ETOA and the South Ethiopia Regional Tourism Bureau, with the broader goal of driving transformative, sustainable change across the region's tourism sector.
