The Role of Beauty and Tourism in Promoting Ethiopia’s Natural, Cultural, and Historical Heritage

Beauty extends beyond physical appearance; it can serve as a powerful platform for showcasing a country’s identity, culture, confidence, and potential to the world. When combined with tourism, it can help promote unique destinations, diverse cultural traditions, rich historical heritage, and extraordinary natural attractions to international audiences.

On October 25, 2026, the Ethiopia Beauty and Tourism Competition took place at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa. Organized by G-Power Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the event brought together beauty, tourism, and promotional initiatives to highlight Ethiopia’s potential as a tourism destination.

The Ethiopian Tour Operators Association (ETOA) participated in the pre-exhibition, demonstrating the tourism sector’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote Ethiopia’s image and showcase its tourism potential to a wider international audience.

The event culminated in the selection of a Tourism Ambassador, with Ruth Tewodros crowned as the winner. ETOA warmly congratulates Ruth on this remarkable achievement and wishes her every success in her new role.

As Tourism Ambassador, Ruth has an important opportunity to represent Ethiopia internationally and inspire audiences to discover the country’s extraordinary destinations. Through this platform, she can help highlight Ethiopia’s natural beauty, vibrant cultural diversity, historical treasures, and distinctive tourism experiences to the world.

The success of such initiatives depends on collaboration among tourism professionals, cultural institutions, the private sector, and ambassadors who can communicate Ethiopia’s authentic stories to international audiences. Beauty may capture attention, but it is Ethiopia’s rich heritage, renowned hospitality, and extraordinary destinations that inspire meaningful journeys of discovery.

By working together, stakeholders can strengthen Ethiopia’s international image, attract more visitors, support local communities, and position Ethiopia as a leading destination for cultural, historical, and nature-based tourism.

ETOA once again congratulates Ruth Tewodros, the Ministry of Tourism, and G-Power Ethiopia for their contributions to this important initiative.
